We want to build on the success of our Art Show over the last few years with an open invitation for any artist working in speculative fiction and works of the imagination to display and sell artwork at TitanCon 2018. We would especially love to hear from local artists living in Northern Ireland.

For 2018 the Art Show will form part of a combined exhibits area occupying half of the McWilliam Suite, at the heart of the convention. The exhibits area will also feature our Dealers' Room and TitanCon Merchandise desk. The new location provides more space, a greater sense of destination to drive footfall, and overnight security essential for the expansion to a full weekend event.

The Art Show will be staffed by our team throughout opening hours, leaving you free to participate in programming, run workshops and/or enjoy the rest of the convention once your work has been hung.

All queries about the Art Show should be sent to our Art Show Head, Jane Stewart, by email at art@TitanCon.com.

Application Process and Cut-Off Dates

You can apply for space in the Art Show as follows:

  1. Applications must be submitted online using the Art Show Entry Form.
  2. Applications will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis.
  3. Artists may apply for up to two boards (a board is approximately 7' wide by 3' tall.)
  4. Payment will be requested from accepted artists once space has been confirmed. We ask that artists make payment within two weeks of receiving this confirmation to secure their space.

Board Pricing and Membership Requirements

All artists must be members of the convention. You can buy memberships here. Attending Memberships cost £42 while Supporting Memberships cost £6.

Board prices are additional to your membership cost, and are as follows. Boards are double sided and fabric coated (see images above and on the main Art Show page).

If you would like more than two boards, please email Jane Stewart at art@TitanCon.com. Initial applications are limited to two boards to encourage a diversity of artists, but we may be able to offer more if we still have unsold space closer to the convention.

We also charge a sales commission fee of 10% on every piece of artwork sold.

Non-Attending Artists

We welcome your application even if you cannot attend the convention in person this year. Non-Attending Artists are handled as follows:

Art Show Hours

Artist Move-In will take place between 9 a.m. and 12 Noon on Saturday, 25 August. Since we only have access to the space from Saturday morning, we will need to set up the boards before hanging starts. We hope to have boards ready for artists from 10.30 a.m. onwards.

Note: There is a small chance that we will be able to access the space and set the boards up on Friday, giving more time for hanging on Saturday morning. However this will not be known until shortly before the convention.

The Art Show will be open to members from 12 Noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday, 25 August and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, 26 August.

Artist Move-Out will take place from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. All artwork and other artist materials must be removed by 5 p.m. on Sunday so that we can meet our commitments to the hotel.

Terms and Conditions

All entries must be original works of a science fiction, fantasy, horror, astronomical, fannish, or related theme.

Artwork in any medium will be accepted, including sculptures, photographs, digital, etc.

All work exhibited, whether traditional or digital, must be the artist's own. No screencaps, although transformative works including photomanipulations are welcome, as long as the latter are clearly labelled as such.

Only one copy of a print or reproduction may be displayed in the Art Show. Multiple copies may be sold via the Print Shop. The same image may not be in both with the following exception: you may hang an original in the Art Show and sell prints of it in the Print Shop.

All two-dimensional (flat) entries must be matted, mounted, or framed, and ready to be hung. Prints must be mounted or matted. All items to be entered must be finished before being brought to hang in the Art Show.

We reserve the right to reject any work that is a copyright infringement, libelous, or patently offensive by TitanCon community standards.

Artwork is hung using velcro strips. We have a limited supply of hooks for very heavy or framed work, so please let us know in advance if you need these. We can provide tables for 3D sculpture or for any 2D artwork to be laid flat or proppped up on if that is your preference. There will be a Print Shop area for any prints or cards you wish to sell, but all prints need to be images of your own artwork.

Artists are responsible for insurance at their discretion. TitanCon accepts no liability for artwork which is lost, damaged or stolen.
