Fri 8 Sept: Literature Night

TitanCon 2017 kicks off with our AGM and Staff Meeting before building up to a relaxed and cultured evening of readings from our Guests of Honour and other friends at TitanCon Literature Night. The Wellington Hotel bar will be open all evening and this will be the perfect way to catch up with old friends and make some new ones before the convention proper begins.

Please note that everything on Friday is FREE to attend, a little sample of what you can experience on the Saturday at TitanCon. So if you want to just try it out for a short while and see if you might enjoy coming along for the full day, then please feel free to come down and say hello. You would be very welcome!

Registration

Our registration desk will open at 2.00 p.m. for TitanCon members to pick up their membership badges. Registration will be open until 3.00 p.m. (when it pauses for the AGM), and then from 3.30 p.m. until 5.00 p.m.

Schedule

Titancon AGM

Time: 3.00 p.m.
Room: Dillon

Please join us for this year’s Annual General Meeting. This will be a chance to hear about recent organisational changes and our plans for moving forward following Phil’s recent departure. We want to hear your views about the future of TitanCon as well as to seek additional help, not only for a “regular” TitanCon in 2018 but of course for the EuroCon we will be hosting in 2019.

We are very much hoping this meeting can be open to previous TitanCon members to attend online, and will announce details as soon as they can be confirmed.

Staff and Volunteers Meeting

Time: 4.30 p.m. (30 minutes)
Room: Dillon

Please come along to this short meeting if you are a staff member or able to volunteer - we will be briefing everyone on procedures, and signing up people for specific tasks where we do not already have things covered from our pre-con preparation. You will also be able to connect with your volunteers coordinator Yoann Desgrange, and the folks you will be working with and for.

You are welcome to sign up here even if you have not been in touch with us before the con - Yoann will find a good job for you within the time you have available. We hugely appreciate all our volunteers, and as such will be feeding you lunch on Saturday.

Finally, if you cannot attend this meeting, but would like to help, please let Yoann know - you an email him at volunteers@TitanCon.com.

More information about our volunteers can be found here.

An Introduction to Women Aloud NI

Panel: Jo Zebedee (mod), Kerry Buchanan , Lynda Collins, R.B. Kelly, Sarah Murray, Jane Talbot
Time: 5.00 p.m.
Room: Middleton

Women Aloud NI are a group of female writers working to support and promote each other across Northern Ireland. TitanCon regular Jo Zebedee introduces us to the rest of the group, who we are very excited to be working with towards the larger Eurocon in 2019.

Opening Ceremony

Time: 7.00 p.m.
Room: Middleton

Come meet and welcome our guests of honour and featured programme participants, and open the convention in style with our Toastmaster Peadar Ó Guilín.

Art Show Grand Opening

Time: 7.45 p.m.
Room: Syndicates 7 and 8 (Art Show)

Do come along and check it out - meet your exhibiting artists, and say hello to Jane Stewart, our Art Show Director. The art show will then be open through the evening so you can snap up purchases before someone else gets there first!

Literature Night

Time: 8.00 p.m. until Late
Room: Middleton

TitanCon is pleased to announce that Literature Night will be FREE entry for anyone that wants to attend. This means you don't need to purchase a TitanCon membership to get in on Friday night, you can just come along and enjoy our authors reading from their latest novel or short story.

We expect that the readings will then be finished by around 11.00 p.m. with the bar remaining open until late for those who wish to chat and socialize.
