Our author guests will be discussing the following subjects during our literary track at TitanCon. There will also be a signing session at the end of the day where you can purchase books directly from some of the authors.
We'll be discussing what happens when a writer introduces myths, legends and magic to our modern day world. How do the characters react to the revelation that such legendary and impossible things really exist? And how do they react to us and the technological innovations of our world?
Sometimes things get really feckin' weird, really feckin' soon. What happens when the apocalypse is only just around the corner? How do you cope when things take a nonchalant side step into another reality? Our authors offer advice to those struggling with these questions, and proffer reassurance (or not) to those worried that our dystopian future may, in fact, have already arrived...
Time: 12.00 pm
Room: King's Landing
This year's quiz pits Game of Thrones guests against Author guests to find out which team is best with letters and numbers. And yes we do want everyone to sing the countdown clock theme!
Exactly what it says on the tin. Everyone is welcome to this round table discussion of women's experience in the genre. If this doesn't happen in the bar, we will be very surprised.
Writing sex, ritual, death and all the other really juicy (goth) bits. Give it away, give it away now \m/
We weren't made for it and it doesn't like us. It wants to kill us – and it hurts us, physically, mentally and right in our sense of existentialist dread. How does being in space change mankind physically and socially? Why do we do it (in books) and how do we cope with the weird shyte that happens when we do?
Our author guests will be signing copies of their books. Many of them will have a small stack of books with them that are available for purchase.
Room: Art Show (Syndicate 7 and 8)
Last year we started running Ten-Minute readings held in our Art Show during the ten minute breaks between panels and it proved a great success with everyone that read finding an audience willing to listen. Many of the writers that read last year were unpublished or just about to be published for the first time. This year we have invited several more familiar guests to read and we hope you'll join them for a quick listen while you are browsing the art in the show.
We wanted to give fan favourite Peadar a chance to read since he is unfortunately missing Literature Night on Friday evening.
