Guards! Guards! A Discworld Boardgame

Game designers Leonard Boyd and David Brashaw will be hosting demonstration and participation games of Guards! Guards! A Discworld Boardgame throughout the day at TitanCon.

The 8 Great Spells are missing and the fate of the Discworld hangs in the balance.

Players take on the role of members of the City Watch and are each assigned a number of the Spells to return. Captain Vimes of the Watch has granted them the power to recruit and deputise the townsfolk of Ankh-Morpork to help protect and safely return the Spells.

Armed with a collection of Curses and Cures, Weapons, Magical items, the ability to secretly plant Saboteurs and, if they're lucky, the power to summon a Dragon, the heroes set forth to regain the Spells and save the city.

As the game progresses the players soon realize that it's not just perils of everyday life in the Discworld's oldest, grubbiest and least law-abiding city that stand between them and success.

In a game where the underhanded and the down-right sneaky are often rewarded, the players quickly learn that... "It's not just winning that's important - making everyone else lose is just as much fun!"

Arkham Gaming Centre have pulled out all the stops to bring TitanCon members this Magic the Gathering: Mini Masters Tournament! The tournament costs £5 to enter, this is in addition to the £10 membership which is your entrance fee to the venue. Spaces are limited to 32 players. The tournament starts at 1.00 pm (this is a change to the originally announced time of midday) and there are some incredible Magic the Gathering prizes to be won.

A Song of Ice & Fire: Running with the White Walkers - When Warlords Clash

The Night's Watch have ventured North of the wall to seek out and destroy some Wildlings. However they get more than they bargain for when they are ambushed by White Walkers. Will they triumph and keep the Seven Kingdoms safe for another season OR will they be lucky to get away with their lives AND even if they do escape will Ned Stark be waiting to mete out justice to deserters with his sword?

Oblivious to the threat from the Northlands the major houses politic, manouvre and scheme for the throne. Whilst this "game" often takes the form of spying, treachery and subterfuge the conflict can all too often break out into open warfare when warbands meet and pursue politics by "other means".

Stargate: The Lost City

Stargate Command are still searching for the ancient Lost City and Daniel Jackson has led SG-1 to P3X-495 with three other SG teams. About half a click from the Stargate, Jackson has discovered a cave that emits a low energy pulse. Upon investigating the cave SG-1 discovers a repository device of the Ancients - and the device contains a map that might lead to the Lost City. Anubis, however, has also discovered its location and SG-1 must destroy the Repository to keep it out of his hands. Knowing the information contained inside might be Earth's only defense against Anubis, Jack O'Neill sets C4 while SG-3 covers the cave entrance. Now SG-1 must get back to the gate with the map, their only hope is that the other two teams come to their aid...

Dawn Attack

On the 7th October 2006, just outside Sangin, an American unit was tasked with retrieving a downed unmanned UAV. They missed the turn off on the main highway and drove into a Taliban ambush, later suspected of being tipped off by someone in the local Police station in Sangin, and a company 3 Para has been sent in to get the Americans out. As it's close to nightfall by the time the Paras get there, they choose to lay up for the night. At 0500hr, two hours before first light the Taliban attacked from nearby compounds across from the Para's and American position. Company commander Major Will Pike chose to kill two birds with one stone, get the UAV and clear the Taliban from the compounds so they could call in a Chinook, getting themselves and the Americans out and back to the safety of Camp Bastion.

There will be a small training table for anyone interested in a rules briefing beforehand, before deciding to join the battle.

Something odd in La Drang

It's hot, damn hot, way hotter than normal for this time of year - even in Vietnam! Local villagers have been reporting people going missing, vanishing without trace.

The US air cav stationed nearby have been pulled of operations to win hearts and minds by helping find the disappeared (of course its the VC behind it...isn't it...?).

A Jamaican immigrant in the air cav known as 'Prince Willy' is hitting the ganja hard with a spooked look in his eyes, what does he know??

The NVA wont like the yanks poking around in their backyard and have sent a few squads to bag a GI or two for uncle Ho...
